The Beer Prayer

This was sent in by a co-worker of mine, and is pretty funny. Like Hooters, it is delightfully tacky. Origin unknown.

The Beer Prayer

The text:

Our lager,
which art in barrels,
hallowed be they drink.

Thy will be drunk,
(I will be drunk),
at home as in the tavern.

Give us this day our foamy head,
and forgive us our spillages,
as we forgive those who spill
against us.

And lead us not into incarceration,
but deliver us from hangovers.

For thine is the beer,
the bitter and the lager,
for ever and ever,
barmen.

That’s on the wall O’Brien’s in San Diego! Fun place. Relaxed atmosphere. Nothing like it where I am here on the East Coast. Of course that might be due to the hoppiness of the beers!

This is offensive to anybody who calls themselves a Christian being that it is making fun (whether you realize it or not) of what’s called “The Lord’s Prayer”. Please realize this and consider taking it down. Thank you.

Chris, your comment is offensive to anybody who has a sense of humor. However, we’re not going to take it down because we believe that everyone has a right to their opinion, even the humor-deficient. Frankly, virtually everything on this site is offensive to a variety of different religions, given that it’s centered on the consumption of alcohol and pork products. Those who find such content offensive are encouraged to browse other sites instead. No one is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to read things you may find offensive (if someone is, you should probably notify the appropriate authorities).
