Benefit for the Glen Hay Falconer Foundation

This was written by Dave Selden on October 31, 2007

The Oregon Brewcrew & Laurelwood bring you a firkin of Life of Brian, a flavorful Golden Ale at 4% ABV. This beer was created in celebration of Oregon Brewer’s Guild Director Brian Butenschoen’s 40th Birthday. Life of Brian is made with German Durst Turbo Pils malt, Briess Carapils, and Centennial Hops in the finish. Only 70 pints will be available.

The Glen Hay Falconer Foundation was created to commemorate and celebrate the life, interests, and good works of a well-loved and leading Northwest brewer. The cornerstone of the Foundation is to contribute to the Northwest craft brewing community by providing opportunities for professional and aspiring brewers to further their knowledge and expertise. The Foundation is also committed to honoring Glen’s broader interests by contributing directly to local Eugene organizations that represent his ideals and passions.

Don’t have much info on this, but it sounds like the “Beervana” documentary about Oregon Beer will have its very own premiere at the Bagdad Theater.

Sierra Nevada Celebration Vertical Tasting

This was written by Dave Selden on

This just in from the Oregon Brew Crew Listserv, via John Lund:

I talked to Gregg Fujino at Woodstock Wine and Deli. On Saturday, November 3 from 1-6+ PM, he’ll be having an unprecedented 6-year vertical of Sierra Nevada’s Celebration (2002 – 2007) as a benefit for the OBC’s own Bob McCracken Scholarship Fund. He is offering a discount to current OBC members. $2 off the $14 6×6oz taster tray and something off the pints. Since he’ll be using up his oldest vintages this’ll be the last time you’ll be able to taste 6 years. He may do a 5 year in 09 but other than that they’ll be 4-year tastings. If you haven’t been to these tastings before Gregg takes great care to serve these beers in pristine condition. The kegs have been stored in his cooler at constant temperature (34-36 and no power outages) and before the tasting he’ll put in brand new lines and clean and rinse the taps. We’re hoping to have a big OBC turnout to support Gregg and the Bob McCracken Scholorship Fund. This is a great opportunity to try some great beers at a great price for a great cause.
